Great day out with clients on the Solent last week Sailing a 41 foot Elan 410 Yacht from Swanwick Marina around the Solent to Cowes on a lovely Sunny day.

In the morning we sailed mostly upwind on force 2/3 and practised our tacking, with lots of winching and changing sides on the boat. Lunch in Cowes was at the legendary Anchor Inn and several of us salty sea dogs had the obligatory fish and chips.

The afternoon was a somewhat more relaxed affair with a sail downwind past Osborne House before putting the boat to bed and having a couple of well-earned drinks in the Jolly Sailor pub, location of 80s drama “Howard’s Way”.
